The VolSU Volunteer Center (VC) "Proryv" was established in 2008. One of the Center's activities is eco-volunteering. Proryv activists take part in environmental protection measures and actions at various levels on an annual basis. Several times a year, Proryv volunteers improve the territory of the Memorial Complex "Lysaya gora", a military history monument near the university. On the International Day of Monuments and Historical Sites, this cultural and environmental action was scaled up to the regional level with the involvement of representatives of the main public organizations of the city and top officials of the region.
In addition, the Volunteer Center is engaged in a permanent collection of waste paper and batteries for recycling. Activists of our volunteer center have expressed a desire to participate in the all-Russian youth campaign "Recycle it" and collected more than 600 kg of waste paper. Also, activists and employees of the Volunteer Center hold thematic days in children's camps, dedicated to environmental protection problems and the importance of volunteering in this area.
At the end of 2017, the Volunteer Center was awarded for its active participation in the Year of the Environment in Russia and its personal contribution to the development of environmental activities in the region.
