Thanks to highly qualified staff and modern infrastructure the Institute of Law provides advanced level of education that ensures high demand and a decent work for graduates. Russian Association of Lawyers confirmed quality of education for Law students in the framework of VolSU professional and public accreditation in 2014 and 2019.

The Institute of Law includes the following departments:

• Department of Theory and History of Law and State;

• Department of Constitutional and Municipal Law;

• Department of Criminal Law;

• Department of Criminal Procedure and Criminalistics;

• Department of Civil and International Private Law;

• Department of Entrepreneurial Law, Civil and Arbitration Proceeding;

• Department of Philosophy.
  

In 2012, the Department of Civil and International Private Law received the status of the basic department of the Southern Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The Law School Clinic is an important unit of the Institute, where future lawyers get their first experience. There are also research and educational centers such as Modernization of the Russian Legal System (Head of the Center is Prof. Dr. Agnessa Inshakova, Head of Department of Civil and International Private Law) and Man in the System of Russian Values and Institutions (Head of the Center is Prof. Dr. Svetlana Tokareva, Head of Department of Philosophy).
