VolSU in the UI GreenMetric Ranking

VolSU has improved its position in the international UI GreenMetric Sustainable University 2026 ranking, securing 7th place among Russian universities and 305th globally. A year ago, the university held 8th and 322nd places, respectively. Meanwhile, the ranking itself has expanded significantly: in 2026, it includes 2,016 universities from 110 countries.

UI GreenMetric objectively assesses environmental commitment, specific sustainable campus development parameters, and university initiatives worldwide using a system that includes 60 indicators across 7 criteria.

VolSU achieved its highest results in the areas of "Energy and Climate Change," "Transport," and "Education and Research." For us, sustainable development is connected with the university environment and the content of scientific and educational work. We present this practice to the professional community: Anna Matveeva, Associate Professor of the Department of Ecology and Environmental Management at VolSU, presented a report on integrating the principles of sustainable development and the ESG agenda into the scientific and educational process at the 10th National UI GreenMetric Round Table "Green Universities of Russia." Yulia Linkova, Head of the International Office at VolSU, also took part in the round table.

Growth across three indicators at once—our rank in Russia, our global position, and our total score—is especially valuable to us. We will continue to consistently develop the university environment and educational practices in which a responsible attitude towards resources becomes part of VolSU's daily work.
