VolSU held VI International conference on nanomaterials
On April 28 Volgograd State University witnessed the opening of the VI "Nanotechnology and Nanomaterials: Current State and Development Prospects" International Scientific Conference. More than 100 participants applied, including scientists from India, Italy, South Korea, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Myanmar.
The plenary session was opened by Dr. Irina Zaporotskova, Deputy Chairman of the conference. She pointed out that the conference that started at the All-Russian level in 2010, became international by now and attracts leading scientists from different countries. "We are delighted to welcome our guests, who found an opportunity to come to our beautiful city, and our friends, who are participating online," Dr. Zaporotskova said. "Let me wish you interesting reports, fruitful discussions and making new scientific and friendly connections!"
After the opening ceremony, the audience welcomed lecturers from India, who participated online. Dr. Murugadoss (Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology) together with his colleagues made reports on size-dependent effects in nanomaterials, catalysts for fuel cells and nanostructured materials for hydrogen production and supercapacitors. In a lively discussion after the reports, practical aspects of using graphene pastes in commercial devices were discussed.
Then another remote participant, Dr. Pavel Dyachkov, Chief Researcher at the N.S. Kurnakov Institute of General and Inorganic Chemistry of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Moscow). His report "Modeling the spin conductivity of chiral nanotubes and wires" was devoted to calculating the electronic structure of carbon nanotubes with helical symmetry.

The participants had a rich program: plenary lectures by leading scientists, section sessions, as well as a round table with representatives of industrial enterprises in Volgograd, dedicated to the prospects of introducing nanotechnology into production.
