Historical memory in the dialogue of cultures: international youth forum as a business simulation game and a professional competency test for linguists and translators of VolSU

On April 28, the faculty and students of the Department of Theory and Practice of Translation and Linguistics organized the traditional business simulation game titled "International Youth Forum: Historical Memory in the Dialogue of Cultures".

The Bachelor students developed the program of the event, prepared the reports and speeches in Russian, English, German and French, played the roles of officials from youth organizations, translators and journalists. The participants discussed different aspects of preserving historical memory and ensuring objectivity of the youth's view on the events of the past, as well as important tasks of intellectual development during the rapid development of the information space.

Multilanguage roleplaying games help to bring the students as close as possible to real interpreting situations, strengthen their communicative, organizational, creative skills and the ability to work with information, as well as to test their professional competency that was being developed during the four years of their studies in the "Linguistics. Translation and Translation Studies" major. All participants received high grades and the event helped to implement a wide range of educational, translation and pedagogical tasks!
