Festival of сultures at VolSU united students from different countries
The “Festival of Cultures” national cuisine fair brought together representatives of different nationalities at the VolSU coworking centre. Students in their national costumes presented traditional dishes from Vietnam, Tajikistan, Azerbaijan, Dagestan, Uzbekistan, Russia, Armenia, Turkmenistan, Chechnya and Ingushetia.
In such an original way, VolSU students took part in the patriotic campaign of the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia, timed to coincide with the National Unity Day.
Alla Kalinina, Rector of VolSU, also visited the fair of national cuisine. The rector tasted the most interesting dishes and praised the students for their initiative.
“It is very symbolic that such events have become a tradition for us and we celebrate the National Unity Day with such a wonderful holiday in our friendly family of Volgograd State University - a demonstration of national cuisine of different nations. More than 130 nationalities live in the Volgograd region. Students from 47 countries of the world study at VolSU. And we all live in friendship and harmony. This is very important to me,” Alla Kalinina emphasised. “Such wonderful projects not only unite us, but also teach us about neighbourliness, carrying out joint tasks, striving for positivity. Together we can accomplish many great deeds!”
A variety of simple and complex dishes made from meat, milk and vegetables, spices and herbs, pilaf, juicy samsa, shorba and appetising manti, dolma and oriental sweets – these and many other dishes were presented at the fair. The variety, originality and taste of the national dishes aroused the appetite of the students, who also enjoyed the unusual tastes of dishes new to them.
The festival of unity was a great success, because sharing a meal in good company can bring people together. In this way, the friendship of nations has found its way into the hearts of the friendly and sociable students of VolSU.
