VolSU students study Chinese with professors of Zaozhuang University

VolSU students learn Chinese with professors of Zaozhuang University_01.jpgOn September 13, an online Chinese language course for VolSU students from our partner, Zaozhuang University, was launched. The course is attended by 21 students from various bachelor, master and postgraduate courses of VolSU, including linguistics, software engineering, information security, sociology, innovation studies, advertising and public relations, and others.

Students have three classes a week: Comprehensive Chinese, Spoken Chinese and lectures on Chinese culture. The course is designed for beginners and will last until December.

Classes are conducted in English and Russian and are structured in an interactive way to ensure maximum student involvement and to better strengthen the knowledge.

Students shared their impressions of their first two weeks of studies.

Maria Toryannikova, a fourth-year student of the "Innovation Studies" program: "At first, having just signed up for a course, I was very nervous, but then I realized that there was nothing to be afraid of. All the teachers are kind and responsive, always ready to help. And although little time has passed since the beginning of the course, I personally learned a lot of new things, although I already knew a little about both the Chinese language and Chinese culture. I think it's going to get even more interesting. And I'm very happy that I have this opportunity to study Chinese with native speakers, because who else but them can explain different language peculiarities and help you understand everything."

Yulia Klinkova, a second-year postgraduate student of "Theoretical, Applied and Comparative Linguistics" program: "Lately I've become very interested in the Chinese language and culture, so when I heard about the courses organized by professors from Zaozhuang University, I thought it was a great opportunity to learn another language. I speak English and French, and compared to them Chinese is quite difficult: you have to spend a lot of time practicing pronunciation and mastering tones, but the teachers are always ready to help and advise you how to overcome any difficulties. The classes on Chinese culture were especially interesting — it's always amazing to learn about the history of the people, their way of life, customs and traditions. I was looking forward to the start of the course, and I can say that all expectations were met, and my motivation to learn has only increased.

We would like to express our gratitude to our partners from Zaozhuang University for organizing the course and wish the students success in learning a new language!
