The "Geo-Economy of the Future: Sustainable Agriculture and Alternative Energy" multi-authored monograph compiled with the participation of leading VolSU scientists has been published

The Geo-Economy of the Future Sustainable Agriculture and Alternative Energy multi-authored monograph.jpgSpringer Publishing House has announced the publication of the "Geo-Economy of the Future: Sustainable Agriculture and Alternative Energy" multi-authored monograph.

The book contains 7 chapters compiled with the participation of leading VolSU scientists in the fields of economics, private law and legal regulation of the environment. The works presented by VolSU scientists touch upon the following topics: the concept and categories of interstate regulation and legal risks in the application of Industry 4.0 digital technologies at the level of the EAEU and BRICS; legal regulation of the turnover of biotechnologies in Russia, as well as BRICS and EAEU countries: certification and labeling of GMO products; the concept of neo-industrial modernization of legal regulation of the digital technology intensification strategy in the EAEU and BRICS, etc.

Among the authors of the monograph are several VolSU scientists: Doctor of Law, Professor Alexey Anisimov; Doctor of Law, Doctor of Economics, Professor Alexander Goncharov; Doctor of Law, Professor Agnessa Inshakova; PhD in Economics, Senior Researcher at the Institute of Law of VolSU Denis Matytsin.

The book introduces a new perspective on geo-economy: for the first time, it is understood not only as economic geography and globalization (i.e., differences in the socio-cultural and economic situation in various countries from the point of view of the humanities), but also as economics from the standpoint of the Earth and planetary sciences. Such approach makes it possible to systematize, study in depth and critically rethink the present and future of economic activity, considering the consequences for the environment and sustainable development.

The uniqueness of the publication also lies in the fact that, in contrast with the established views on environmental economics in science, which focuses on the issues of climate change and the reduction of production and consumption waste, the focus is on geo-economy with an emphasis on responsible environmental management, sustainable agriculture and alternative energy. Thus, this book fills a gap in the field of scientific knowledge at the intersection of economic geography and environmental management, opening a new, wide area for scientific research in the field of world economy.

The book includes two autonomous sections, each of which consists of parts where the main ideas formulated in the title are being consistently revealed. Section I is titled "Green Growth, Environmental Protection and Sustainable Agriculture in the Geo-Economy of the Future". In this part of the book, the scientific concept of geo-economy of the future is being developed, as well as applied recommendations for its practical implementation. The book provides a systematic review of the practices and prospects of sustainable green growth, environmental protection and sustainable agriculture. The aforementioned issues have determined the logic and structure of this section of the book — they are being consistently analyzed in the first three parts.

Part 1 is devoted to green economy and environmental management. International experience of such countries as Russia and China, as well as industry practice, is widely used here. The health benefits of sustainable development of geo-economy and the experience of sustainable development of geo-economy in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic and financial crisis are also taken into account.

Part 2 examines the environment quality and ecological efficiency of business practices.

Part 3 is devoted to issues of sustainable development of agriculture.

Section II explores the transition to the geo-economy of the future based on the paradigm of responsible environmental management, the formation of sustainable communities and the use of alternative energy sources. The purpose of Section II is to form a systematic scientific view on the transition to the geo-economy of the future, which is based on responsible environmental management, sustainable communities and the use of alternative energy sources. This goal predetermined the structure of this section, which consists of three parts as well.

Part 4 is devoted to the development of responsible industry, sustainable development of regions, cities and communities.

Part 5 explores sustainable agriculture and rural development.

Part 6, a final one, examines sustainable and alternative energy.

This monograph presents an interdisciplinary scientific research. It contains findings that, according to the authors, may be of great interest to representatives of economic geography, corporate economics, regional economics (in the aspect of sustainable development of cities and regions), sociology, law and other social sciences (in the aspect of sustainable communities), management (in particular, state and corporate governance), Earth and planetary sciences.

The book also contains two reviews of multi-authored monographs published in foreign publications indexed in Scopus and Web of Science Core Collection.
