Global Cleveland Summit

Center for Public Diplomacy of Volgograd State University took part in the educational summit organized by the Global Cleveland international organization.  The event was dedicated to strengthening educational contacts between universities and secondary educational institutions of the twin cities of Cleveland, including Volgograd.

The participants included representatives of the Cleveland twin cities from Russia, Italy, Peru, Ethiopia, Mexico, Nepal and Rwanda. The city of Volgograd was presented by VolSU professors and experts of Center for Public Diplomacy.

Global Cleveland’s President Mr. Joe Cimperman during his welcoming speech emphasized the importance of developing educational cooperation between schools and universities within the framework of the twin cities movement.

Professors of the Department of Germanic and Romance Philology of VolSU Dr. Inna Skrynnikova and Dr.Elena Malushko spoke respectively about the Erasmus+ program and its importance in inter-university cooperation and stressed the need to develop the key components of inclusive education in cooperation with higher education institutions.

Director of Center for Public Diplomacy Dr. Elena Parubochaya spoke about the inter-university cooperation of VolSU and American higher educational institutions. She noted the importance of renewal of cooperation between VolSU and University of Kent as well asthe readiness to continue negotiations on cooperation agreement with Cleveland State University.

It should be noted that as the result of VolSU delegation visit in Cleveland in 2019 steps for further expansion of the educational dialogue were outlined. Participation in the Cleveland Education Summit is one of these steps to strengthen inter-university twin ties.
