During the meeting, the Minister announced several important innovations for universities for the upcoming academic year.

First of all, wearing face masks will be mandatory order for students and professors. The Minister noted that those who have confirmed the presence of antibodies to the virus can attend classes without masks, but in this case it is necessary to provide the appropriate certificate. During lectures the faculty staff do not need to wear masks.

Another important requirement is temperature control at the University. In addition, special devices will appear at University classrooms to ensure regular air disinfection.

As for non-residents and foreign students there are some special rules for them. Students from other countries will have to observe a 14-day quarantine upon arrival in Russia and pass a virus test on 10-12 days after arrival in the country. Only then they can attend classes. For those who cannot enter the country, the universities will provide access to online learning. Russian students arrived from cities where the risk of catching a new virus is still high will also have to pass a coronavirus test to start their studies.
