VolSU helps evacuated residents of Donetsk and Luhansk Republics
Volgograd State University is actively involved in providing assistance to evacuated residents from the Donetsk and Luhansk Republics. The work is being carried out in several directions at once.
Thus, in March, the #MYVMESTE (We are Together) Humanitarian Aid Center was opened at VolSU for all concerned residents of the region who want to provide support to evacuated families from the Donetsk and Luhansk Republics.
During the first four days of the Center’s operation, school supplies, baby food, personal hygiene products and bed linen were collected, the first car with humanitarian aid was sent. The Trade Union Organization of VolSU Employees and the Trade Union Organization of VolSU Students were among the first to participate. A part of humanitarian aid has already been sent to the Volunteer Resource Center for transfer to the Red Cross. The collection of food and non-food products continues.
In addition to providing humanitarian aid, the university organizes events for children from the DPR and LPR. So, in March, VolSU volunteers held eight meetings with children in the Start and Tsaritsyn hotels: origami workshops, art therapy and board game festivals. The VolSU psychological service also organized various games: "Try to Repeat", "Rainbow of Feelings", "Art Sandbox" and "Fairy Tale in Sand". The games were aimed at increasing stress tolerance, reducing anxiety, stabilizing emotional state, safety of self-expression, development of communication skills and social activity. Students actively participated in the work of psychologists. The Trade Union Organization of VolSU Students joined this initiative and organized an art workshop for children, where they painted animals in the doodling style with acrylic paint.
