On May 24, the day of Slavic Writing and Culture, Volgograd State University celebrates its anniversary. The first university of Volgograd is 40!

It was founded in 1980. Then the first 250 students entered the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Humanities.

Today VolSU is a center for technological, innovative and social development of the region. It has ten institutes and a research institute of socio-economic development of the region. More than 10 thousand students study at the university and nearly 50 thousand obtained their diplomas. 137 educational programs are implemented at VolSU: secondary vocational education, bachelor's, specialist’s, master's and postgraduate levels.

On the eve of a significant date, the “VolSU 4.0” page was created on the university’s website. It represents the history of the VolSU establishment, its development path from 1980 to 2020 as well as information about the contemporary university - “VolSU of today” and “40 facts about VolSU”. In addition, the history of the volunteer movement and VolSU international life is fully described. In the section “Scientific Future of VolSU”, interviews with young researchers who are responsible for the university’s future are published.
